Hello Everybody,
I don’t think anybody has read my last blog entry but that’s okay. This time I would like to introduce a philosophical concept to you. I had to write an essay about it in class and would like to tell you the main plot and a few thoughts on it.
Firstly I’d like to summarise the main point so everybody gets a basic understanding of it. So the main concept says that when you read books you can become a smart person, a scholar but you will be an unscholarly Scholar because all the reading does to you is give you facts. You only remember the information and maybe use it to impress somebody in a social event. An actual scholar or idk what to really call it in enlish cause my class wasnt in english. Anyway this actually intellectual person is a someone that is entirely changed by the book or whatever piece of literatur they read. They gain a new perspective on the world on humans and animals. And additionally they learn to express their knowledge in a form of poetry. They can use nice words correctly and describe their opinions very edoquently (can you use that word in Enlgish?).
Now the question was if our educational system can provide us or provides us with this real knowledge. Do we still read literature in school that encourages us to be changed in our way of thinking or is all we learn just facts we have to memorise to get a good grade. Speaking from my experience all i do in school is sit let the teacher yap and when the exam comes around i start studying the information desperatly trying to get it all in my head. What I would prefer is to study language until I’m actually fluent, read classic literature and learn to think and express myself in a way that plays with word beautyfully and smart. I want to learn to write a poem using actual good rhymes and words to describe what I feel, describe what the people feel and describe what the nature feels! And to do that we need to let change happen and be changed by what we read cause that’s the most crucial part of learning to do so.
Please let me know what you think and if you want read my other blog post about a fashion show in 2005 which I really liked. Thanks for reading see you all!!

I can feel your passion through your words. I love it.
Honestly the way school measures our value sucks. Kind of like you said, it only measures a few traits, like memorization skills, when there are many other traits that are important as well, like creativity.
BTW the first part of this blog where you said a scholar wouldn't just read, they would gain a new perspective, reminded me of this video:

It's a video on how to think "originally", I personally loved it, seems like a video that you would enjoy too.
Thank youuu<3 I'm definitely gonna check out the video and tell you what I think about it!!

If copying and pasting link doesn't work, the video is called "how to think originally" by "Odysseas". Definitely something you can check out when you have time :)
