I've been using Spotify since about 2016. I have a DAP for lossless formats but it's not really practical for daily music browsing. That's where these apps become useful, though often at the cost of quality. The recommendations have become too repetitive and suggesting the same songs I've been listening to, so decided to try out different ones.
Youtube Music is not a favorite rn because of the UI and having a desktop app only as a Chrome browser app but the algorithm seems fine for now. Since it's "getting to know me" it feels fresh and gives solid recommendations, but we'll see after some regular use.

It's been a while. For the last month I mostly used YT Music for daily listening both outside and in my car. It seems the algorithm gives me more "fresh" recommendations compared to Spotify, but the volume and quality inconsistency is pretty bad. Not a total dealbreaker but there's also the uglier UI. It seems I'm going to start paying Spotify again sadly (Tidal is not available here anymore).
