I see people posting blogs and bulletins about how it's bad to have minor friends. And people have dni if ur under 16 in their profile. I just don't understand. Like, is it not okay?
I do think I have minor Friends too, and I myself are friends with people older then me. But does it really matter if the other party is young or not?, I mean, I get that you might get cancelled for talking to minors and it's considered as pedophile but is it truee??.
I'm just very confused and I want to be corrected, so please if you know anything about this, tell me.

I think its okay to have minor friends. I would say ideally that a person should have friends with people around their age, older, and younger. The issue with younger people is that imbalances of power can easily form and a lot of abuse can happen. It really depends on how the older person acts, there's gonna be a lot of situations where things are fine and others where its not. So yeah, I would say its fine or okay to have younger friends, but it really depends on how you interact with them.

I feel like as long as you only intend friendship and don't behave weirdly/inappropriately with them its fine. When I was 12 I had a 21 year old friend online they never behaved in a weird or inappropriate manner so I never felt uncomfortable with them, conversation generally centered around shared interest in television and was normal. I think the best way to gage your behavior with a minor online is to question if how you are acting would be considered as inappropriate behavior for an older cousin or sibling to exhibit. Many people when their younger have close relationships with older siblings and cousins who are above 18 but its not inappropriate. On top of that plenty of teens have part time jobs and sometimes have older coworkers they consider to be friends. I myself have several 30 year old friends and even a 50 year old friend I got close with through being coworkers, I'm 20 right now but I became friends with them when I was 15/16. The type of friendships I have noticed that form with adults and minors are (if appropriate) generally familial in nature like I consider my 30 year old friends to be like bootleg older brothers and the 50 year old friend to be in an uncle type category. Its also important to note that you shouldn't be actively seeking out minors to be friends with, if it happens by chance that's fine but always remember that you're the adult and you should behave somewhat restrained as any older individual should with someone who is a minor.

Bad thing to do - flirting with them, trying to hook them up with someone you think they might like, forcing them to do bad things for you, your like 18 are older leave them alone don't be friends with them unless they have the same age as you!
Right thing to do - only be friends with them if you have the same age as they do, support each other.
This is coming from someone who is a 15 year old i hope young people like me make friends with the right people that they can really call a friend online.

like as long as the age difference isnt like 10 years apart
thatll just feel uncomfortable and ilegal for all parties involved
but like if its 5 years theres isnt much of a problem imo

i dont think its wrong to have minor friends as long as you're not saying some innapropriate stuff to them. i prefer not to befriend ppl who are atleast 3 years younger than me tho only because i dont like immature ppl but thats js my preference.
