I had the absolute honor of seeing Refused on their last show of
their last ever North American tour before they retire and HOLY SHIT
were they amazing. Probably one of the best shows I'd ever seen. It
makes me sad, though that I'll never get to see them again. Their 1998
album, The Shape of Punk to Come is a masterpiece and a half and
literally got me through the darkest days while I was
studying abroad in Sweden. I am confident to say they are the best thing
to come out of Sweden alongside maybe like Marabou chocolate. Real talk, when I
was alone in butt-fuck-middle-of-nowhere, Sweden in the dead of winter
it was literally just me, Refused, Marabou chocolate, and occasionally
the Lewis Hamilton zero sugar monster that for some reason they don't
sell in the U.S. against the fucking world.
Weird lore that no one cares about aside...I am so grateful that I was able to see them before they retire and I captured some great memories on my shitty flip phone. I really hope they see my stupid video I posted online of the sound just absolutely getting destroyed when the beat dropped during New Noise. Concert is definitely a core memory and I'm glad I mustered up the courage to rock sweaty middle aged men's shit in the pit during their last song with my 5'3, 120 lbs ass XD
Jag älskar dig, Refused <3
