A Daddy Knows

Ten little fingers

Ten little toes

Wrapped around a finger

Only a daddy knows

 

With tender hands he guides

He is her hero

Her first love

Only a daddy knows

 

Off to school

The boys come around

While dusting off his gun

The boyfriend doesn't make a sound

Heartbreaks come and go

Oh how a daddy knows

 

Out of school and off to start her life

He walks her down the aisle as she becomes a wife

All grown up he tries to smile

But deep inside he cries a while

 

His baby girl is all grown up

As he watches as she goes,

The pain inside,

 Only a daddy knows
