Serial Experiments Lain Episode 10 Reaction
A
stunning episode. Now it's confirmed that Lain is an artificial
being. Well, unless everything she's being told is a lie. She could
be in the Wired this entire episode, even when her father is saying
his goodbye.
There
are gods on gods on gods in this show. Lain's creator is a god. Lain
is a god. There was that disembodied voice several episodes ago that
called himself a god. He also said he was Lain, though.
The
Knights simply seemed like the villains of the show before this
episode. I did not expect them to all be killed. Now they seem a
little more sympathetic. They were pro-Lain in a sense... With the
Knights out of the way, Lain and her creator have been locked
together, apparently. Lain has been made a prisoner by the men who
seemed like they were her benefactors previously.
Lain
says "I always tried to keep something like this from happening
to me." She must be speaking in the voice of the Wired-Lain
here, right? A second later she says she tried to never do something
that "would arouse the slightest suspicion." That makes it
seem like some part of her was always aware she wasn't a real girl...
Whose suspicion would she even be arousing, though? That's confusing.
And suspicion of what, exactly? And what precisely is the thing she's
trying to keep from happening to her? Her own loss of faith in her
being real? I don't know. These words seem important but they are
mysterious.
I
knew the suicide girl from the first episode would come back up again
at some point. Sometimes this show seems like a long seduction...
Lain being slowly convinced to exist only on the Wired. To give up
her body, like the girl who killed herself.
