why are school counselors so fucking useless??

this is kind of me venting my feelings out over something that just happened so yeah

WHY ARE SCHOOL COUNSELORS, ESPECIALLY HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS, SO FUCKING USELESS???? WHY???? DO THEY EVEN HAVE A THERAPY LICENSE?? let me tell you something that just happened to me. after a particularly shitty day, i decided to go to my school counselor for the first time. i was venting out my feelings about depression stuff, blah blah blah, and all this guy does is sit here in silence, and after 20 minutes of me talking about how much i hate my life, all this motherfucker does is stay silent for 20 seconds and say "what's your last class of the day?"

me, already a little pissed, replies "...fashion."

this guy is like "do you think you can get there?"

i stare at him in genuine shock before responding "i don't... i don't really want to think about that right now. i'm not exactly sure what that has to do with what i was saying."

silence for like 30 seconds before he replies "well, you know, i can't solve all of your problems."

keep in mind this was my FIRST TIME SEEING HIM. IM FUCKING AWARE BUT I CAME TO YOU TO TALK ABOUT HOW HORRIBLE I FEEL ON THE VERGE OF TEARS AND ALL YOU CARE ABOUT IS IF I CAN GET TO FASHION????????? i stared at this man like he was fucking insane (BECAUSE HE IS) and said "...well yeah, i know that?"

so basically this is how it went:

awkward silence -> me venting a little -> silence -> me venting a little -> silence -> "you might have depression" (NO SHIT) -> me venting a little -> silence -> me venting a little -> shitty therapy tactic he read in a notebook probably

SERIOUSLY ?????????????! THATS ALL I GET???????????? this made me feel WORSE than before, which i wasn't sure was possible. and this isn't the only encounter ive had with a shitty school counselor. only 2 out of 11 counselors ive met in my entire life were actually good at their jobs, which is like... WHYYYY??? WHY does school suck so fucking bad at making their students not want to kill themselves?? is it so hard to just invest in people who have actual licenses in this shit instead of random douchebags who think they're better than you just because they're an adult and you're not? jfc.
