As much as I appreciate digital art and digital copies, nothing compares to having physical copies of your favourite albums in CDs, tapes, and prints. There's something nostalgic and comforting about it. Reminds me of when blockbusters and DVD/Game stores were still standing and thriving. The moment Blockbuster went bankrupt and everyone transitioned to streaming services, I was devastated. I feel like many people have a sentimental connection to going to those types of stores and having to go around finding movies, CDs, records, and many more. The excitement you feel when you find something you've been on the hunt for is truly unmatched. That's the difference between physical vs. digital copies. As much as it is more convenient to have everything on one device, it strips away the emotional aspect of it in my opinion.
Physical media is important because it's essentially you preserving history. That's why, throughout our history, we have copies of many books, artifacts, statues, and the list goes on. By having physical proof of things, we can build museums and such and learn through them. We are preserving history for real, it's something that should be passed down throughout generations, just like knowledge. I personally love building my physical media collection, it's like unravelling a time capsule and immersing yourself in that era. Nothing beats the feeling of listening to a record or a CD in your room just vibing to music without having to worry about $14 missing from your account every month (YES SPOTIFY IM TALKING TO YOU).
Anyway, another thing that bothers me is that these streaming services are getting so expensive. How do we go from $8 a month to watch movies with no ads, you have unlimited use, whatsoever back then, to $18 a month with hella rules, and you can't even share your shit unless it's a family member? Netflix, you got me fucked up, LMAO. it's the same with all the other streaming services. It gets to a point where having the physical copy is better than that scam.
In conclusion, start collecting physical media and have fun with that shit. It makes everyone happy, it helps the artists, it's fun, you're up infinite aura points, it's cheaper (ONLY SOMETIMES lol, the vinyls be robbing me but they are worth it and beautiful so it's okay), and it's just overall a fun experience to have. Trust me, go buy your favourite albums in CD or vinyl form and thank me later.
That's my little insight and yap sesh about collecting physical media, feel free to yap and comment your thoughts and or if you collect and tell me your rarest item in your collection, I always love seeing peoples collections hehe. Have a great day bi*ches <3 mwah

i also agree that physical media is very important! but nowadays, companies have such crude ways of hiding the fact that they're still capable of making those media inaccessible despite u already owning physical copies of them. like, take printers for example. say u already owned a printer for like a year n everything's been swell, but suddenly ur printer just refuses to print bc u didnt renew ur HP/canon subscription. ik this might jst seem paranoid, but if they can do it to printers, whats stopping them from doing the same to other stuff? :c
I absolutely agree, they just wanna exploit their customers and make money off of us :c which is so annoying because stuff like that should be free tbh.
