Move over Greys Anatomy, The Pitt is my new fave medical drama

I <3 The Pitt

As a certified med-drama fan (Greys Anatomy, Chicago Med, Station 19, House, I love them all), I have been absolutely glued to my screen binge-watching The Pitt for the last few days. I first heard about it watching Dr. Mike react to it on YouTube and he said it's the most realistic medical show he's seen. That had me hooked. I have no idea why, because I have absolutely no interest in being a doctor or any kind of healthcare worker (I hated biology in high-school and I have an irrational fear of the inner-workings of the human body), but I've always been fascinated by everything medical. Apart from shows, I've also been binging medical audiobooks (Unnatural Causes, You Called an Ambulance for What?, Gas Man, Under the Knife and I'll Die After Bingo are my recent listens). I fill my life with listening to recounts of medical consultations and watching dramatised, pretend surgeries. (Big respect for actual healthcare workers, I swear I'm not some Greys Anatomy fan who thinks she's a doctor. If anything, consuming so much medical media has made me realise how much I absolutely do not know about medicine. Wtf is a hematoma?)

Anyway, now that you know my qualifications, let me tell you why you need to watch this amazing show.

Even though the shows I watch are med-dramas, I'm 100% here for the med (okay maybe 90%, I do secretly love a bit of drama), and The Pitt BRINGS THE MED. There's no sappy romance storyline taking up precious screentime that could be spent on medical jargon I don't understand, the characters are all likeable for the most part (sorry Dr. House fans, I love the show but I hate the character), and the plot is so engaging the whole time, no phone scrolling needed to enjoy it. They do have plot that isn't purely about medical cases, but they feel more like things that would actually happen in a hospital than Greys Anatomy (maybe not common hospital occurrences, but I mean they're far closer to real than Greys Anatomy on the sliding scale of med-drama plotlines). The transition between scenes is often one long shot showing the chaos of the ER, which I love a lot, it makes it feel like a real, living hospital. The episodes are about 45 minutes long so you get a lot of content per episode, but it still all feels consistent, with plot carrying over seamlessly between episodes (great for binging). Big warning though, they show a lot of gore and nsfw stuff, not much holding back here. There are multiple scenes including genitals, and many more scenes showing some pretty gruesome wounds. The special effects are really great!

I don't want to continue into spoiler territory, but would love to talk about this show in dms or the comments if anyone else has watched it! I'm so excited for the finale to come out!!!!!
