Why do we glaze the "good ol days" in the big '25.

That's a good one. I've been contemplating this for a while. I actually think I glaze the past too much instead of living the day, living in the present. But why is that? What's the psychology beyond that. And why are we so depressed and lonely, as a generation, as a whole.

Times have changed, and definitely not for the good. The old days were indeed good because people were nicer and kinder, now there's a bunch of unhealed hurt people who bleed on people who didn't hurt them and hurt others. And I'm unfortunately one of them, but I make efforts to heal from everything that has happened to me in the past, as probably most people do. Now people focus too much on the negatives, and even the younger people. Children are not really children anymore. Kids grow up and mature much faster than before because of exposure to the internet from a tender age. I think the way the internet has shaped nowadays, the way the Internet functions in 2025 is also very unhealthy for us humans. Again lots of negativity and extremely inappropriate stuff. 2025 is really lame, like it's probably one of the worst periods to live in, just because we're literally heading towards a second great depression.

The older times, when the internet was in it's "wild west" period, when people were on the internet to escape reality and not the other way around. When people really were themselves online and expressed themselves freely. Those were the good times and they are unfortunately gone. I see spacehey as a revival of those times, but unfortunately some people here don't really understand how spacehey works because they're so used with other forms of social media. I think when social media became mobile and available to everyone on their phone, marked the beginning of the dark age we live in today. And who knows, maybe it will get worst in the future.

Plus in the future the Dead Internet Theory will be more real than ever, because you wouldn't be able to tell who's a human and who's a robot. There will be more robots than humans. I think Serial Experiments Lain is very relevant nowadays, even though it was made almost 3 decades ago, it's still a masterpiece.

I could write more but the point is, idk, things became sadder and we live a very lame time. The old internet, the people that were on it were different idk, I miss those times even though I never lived them. Idk if y'all feel the same lmk, you're not alone, maybe we can rebuild and bring back those old times. In the end all I want is to make some friends, some good friends. I love spacehey because I can express myself freely, and I embraced this nostalgic old-school feeling exactly for that, for what I feel.

I'm seriously thinking about switching to a dumb phone soon, but I'll stay active on spacehey, on the PC. I think a dumb phone could heal me because, the "smart" phone ruins my life. I miss a time when social media was only on the PC, when everyone had a home PC and outside people were people, humans were humans and we could live our lives authentically without a phone in our hands. But I wish more people will hop on this "trend" in the future, because those phones ruin us slowly, modern social media ruins us slowly and the toxicity of the people ruins us slowly. If we're toxic it also ruins us too.

I think most failed relationships with people that I had were ruined because of the Internet.

Anyway. Give a kudos if u read all this. Let me know in the comments what you feel and have a good life! o7

I agree with you. 2025 and the 2020's in general are so lame, it feels like eating sand. Maybe we should count the years differently lmao.

Yeah, it freaks me out how connected humans ALWAYS are unless you have no service but then you must get it back immediately or you will die!!!11! Teenagers mostly get hit with the accusation of always being on their phone but in reality it's almost everyone - little kids, preteens, teens, adults, the middle aged and the elderly. It hits me how weird this all is when someone scrolls through tiktoks or other short form stuff without headphones. "Here's what YOU HAVE TO buy if-" and then some war footage and then "You're actually ugly and don't know it if-" and then some politician saying some dumb shit and then a brain rot meme. Even though the older people scoff at it they do it as well. Honestly it's kind of worrying esp. with children and the elderly, who might not know a lot about the internet. And yeah, I also spent a lot of time on the web as a kid but I mostly played flash games which doesn't affect you as much as having 10000 different ads played within the span of 30mins on social media (plus I had fun and didn't spend money, meanwhile some kids nowadays get bullied for idk wearing a regular, inexpensive and unbranded T-shirt so they gotta get the newest trendy thing because everyone else is wearing it!!!1!1!)

I also use my phone, but it's mainly to listen to music (i need to download songs on my mp3 player) and I don't have social media, just youtube and pinterest if they count (and yet it STILL affects me negatively). I also wanna use a dumbphone but I still need to do some research on the service and stuff in my country. Also I think that dumbphones just look way cooler. Honestly, sometimes I resent the invention of the smartphone, maybe society would be better if the smartphone never existed, like imo a modern PC can do everything you could need and the lack of portability is a plus. It's obviously unhealthy to have the thoughts of 121492523 people you'll never meet in your pocket and access to addictive algorithms 24/7. Like I know you still have some of that on the PC but you

Even though I'm young I miss those times when the PC had like it's own room, it was a whimsical place. I also don't like how complicated texting is. Everyone has their own texting style and what annoys them is all different (like you text too much, you don't text enough etc.) and it's harder to tell what they actually mean. Like if you wanna hang out just knock on my door or smth but nah, we gotta plan a day to hang out where they'll agree at first but on the day of they'll cancel, or worse - flake.

Sorry for the longggg stream of thoughts it's just when you try to talk about this irl people look at you weird and "you're just overthinking" so there's not many I can talk to about it :P

For me it's simple - to get myself in a happy state of mind I cut myself of from chunks of modernity and oldschool stuff still gets me excited.

And that's not to say it's all bad nowadays, for gaming - I'm certainly glad Ultrakill became a thing, Crack-Life Anniversaryu just released it's campaign and for as offensive as it is it's alot tamer than pointles edge of previous instalnments and also the PEAK gaming experience, actually.
Modern linux still makes using the computer as fun as it was in xpo days and up to windows 7 and 8.1
Multitools and EDC tools are absolutely boomin right now, things may not have been this good in the space since Letherman first became a thing
Synthesizers don't get boring, they are a creative tool unbound by the need to do everything at once, but tbh the Virus could, and that came out in mid 2000s and forgot to stop growing for a long-ass while.
GIMP just hit version 3.0

That being said. Halo 3. Hell - Titanfall. Macromedia Flash 6. Nokia 5130 XM. Sony Ericsson W200i, and honestly any Xperia from the Walkman or Cybershot series. PS-fuckin-P. The whole product category of "gadget" is dead.
