I've been seeing this tiktok trend recently about two people being friends and being weird together and one of them eventually becoming basic or "normal".

This has made me think a lot about the sentiment of belonging and finding your people. It has made me think about me and my group of friends. We used to be friends with this girl, J, that was "like us". We went to the cinema, played video games, hang out at the mall... But J and I were best friends for a really long time before this. We grew up together. She used to be one of the rotten ones with me. However, when we turned 12 we went to different high schools and drifted apart a bit. We were no longer best friends but we still shared our friendgroup. It was ok. I don't know what happened exactly, I guess we just grew up and she became everything we used to laugh at. 

Now, we are in college and I don't even know what she is studying. How weird to have known someone so well and then becoming strangers. I still am a rotten one and she is the girl with the normal life. I am the only one that knows that's not exactly true. I hope she is doing fine and wish her well. We cannot stare at our wounds forever, I suppose. 

Anyway, now that I am older, I kind of like being the weird one. I've accepted it and I'm proud of it. You will lose friends for being "the rotten one" but you will meet amazing people that are just like you and that will make you happy. Not all hope is lost. Let me know what you think.
