ILLUSTRATION PROCESS ♱ NURSE MEL

It's been a minute, spacehey! But I am back, this time with artwork! I've been working on this over the past few days, and this is me documenting my process. ^^ 

 PROGRESS SO FAR (for the lazy people/j) 

 INITAL IDEAS 

So this idea all started out with a skit idea in my head. TLDR, it was about my two OCs (Mel and Angelico) bickering over the absence of the cult's "doctor", Astra. I wanted to animate it, though I could NOT bother at all. I am notorious for not ever finishing animated projects. I started one last month, I swore I'd finish it. But, alas, it remains rotting in my files to this very day.

However, I did already design something for Mel, being this first iteration of their clothing for the illustration.

Then I was struck with a new idea: What if I animated Mel to that skit at the ending of Piggy Pie (ICP)? It was a pretty funny skit (or I'm just insensitive), and it fit their character. Because Mel is a jackass and needs to be put 6 feet under. 

Obviously, that didn't work out, so I FINALLY settled on an illustration. 

 INITIAL SKETCH 

The initial sketch took HOURS... It took a while to figure out the perspective and I swear to you it is still wrong. 

Wasn't too sure what to do with the background so I settled with a curtain (lazy ass). I really didn't know what to do with the background. I think that is the part I hate the most about any illustration.

 LINEWORK!!! 

Lineart is my everything. I loved every second of the 2 hours I spent on this. I think I did well with the lineart, though I did cut corners here and there. Can you blame a guy? This is a big project.

 COLORING (SO FAR) 

Oh. My. Jegus. I HATE COLORING. The skin is always fun to color. But after that... It was a rollercoaster that's for sure. I feel like the material for Mel's clothes (I think its leather or latex I have no clur actually I just wanted it to be shiny) was a pain in the asscheeks bro. I was doing so well on their left arm, but I fucked up the other sleve and skirt...
