hornet disaster tour

im finally getting around to making a proper post on this! o_O

i went 2 my first concert a couple weeks ago to see weatherday!! and they were awesome!!!!

i went with one of my non-emo friends and she was very supportive, though unprepared for the screamo opener lol! all of the opening bands were great and i plan on checking them out later :) the openers were olive hoover, /hospitality/, and smoke detector ^_^

the venue ended up being really nice too! it was so healing to be in a space with so many people my age, so many people like me after how hard the past year has been :O it did a lot to help me feel less alien, and less isolated. everyone was friendly, and some people even recognized my style! there was a very kind person who told me about how they wore EGL and another shy person who came up to compliment me hehe~ people are so sweet :>

i did have to teach my friend about how mosh pits work, she almost stepped right into the middle of it all!! but none of the moshing was ever dangerous, it was very safe. and it was so fun to see people enjoying themselves in it :) maybe i will work up the courage to join in the future o_O

we were all very close together, it was an intimate show, maybe 100 people? i hardly even noticed i was standing for 5 hours lol. i think it was a lot less intimidating than a huge concert would be for me. i preferred it, really! and we did bring ear plugs but i didn't even wear em. i got so lost in the music and the energy- it was unlike anything i've ever experienced. i'm so glad i went to a concert, and now i wanna go to more!!

so onto the show specifically! sputnik was so sweet! they had to deal with some technical issues but they got to play nearly all the songs they had planned. they forgot to write setlists but here's what i think i remember them playing: 

meanie, angel, blanket, older than before, mio min mio, pulka, radar ballet, ripped apart by hands, cooperative calligraphy, chopland sedans, come in, and tiara.

i was too immersed but my friend did take pictures and some clips. she said it was the happiest she had ever seen me look XD but wow!!! they were so good live! it was impressive to me how well sputnik was able to hold up on such vocally demanding songs, even using the higher pitched voice on some o_O and it was so nice to be in a crowd of people who mostly seemed to be super familiar with their stuff :D felt very personal, very tight-knit. its a sense of community i've never really had. i wish i could have like,, talked to people more there but it was already a huge step for me to get out of my shell! and im sure when i go to more concerts i'll get less shy and nervous too :)
