so in 2011 google made a facebook competitor called google+, and it didn't do well. first of all a few months after it came out, snapchat came out, marking a new age in social media past facebook. second of all, no one signed up for it so google made it so in order to comment on youtube, you have to make a google+ account, and everyone hated google for that. hangouts which was originally the chat feature of google+, became it's own app because google+ was so bad. so in 2017, google+ shut down, rest in shit you will not be missed.
