Yesterday, I did a gig. It was fun, getting up on stage. However, it's evident that the band I was part of had different visions for what they wanted the performance to be like.
Playing at a venue for the first time in nearly three years was really something. I thought I would have been incredibly nervous. Mainly because the venue would have been filled with people I've seen before, and people I have never seen before in my life. However, as the venue got more and more full, and as I started wandering around... I began to feel nothing at all. Maybe it's because I'm finally used to playing on stage in front of people, or maybe it's because of the medication I take.
I hate slagging people off (talking crap, chattin' shit, talking smack, etc.). However, something I have found out is that the band I'm in is a complete, absolute shit-show. One guy wanted the band to be post-punk. He even went out of his way to tell us that the band was called Warsaw (which was the same name Joy Division used for a brief period of time). He claimed that he didn't know Joy Division were called Warsaw at one point. However, I call massive bull on that and he intentionally chose it. The other guy didn't really have a name for the band, but kept on banging on about how the band was "his band" because he sung on both of the tracks and wrote the one original that we played. He has more of an alternative rock vibe so I'm assuming he wanted the band to be that. I'm the quiet guy of the band; the George Harrison, Jeff Hanneman, Nirvana-Era Dave Grohl guy.
Staying out until about 8 PM was really something. I'm not used to staying out that late for a myriad of reasons; Nothing to do in the town I live in and the buses stop running at a certain time. There's also the risk of getting mugged and/or killed if I walk back home. So, I'm not really a night person. Not really a night out kind of guy.
