These are my 5☆ books of 2025, as of april 4. i just want to document my thoughts on them because why not?
giovanni's room - james baldwin
WOW. i never read a baldwin book ever (not even in school) and holy shit his writing is amazing. the depth and symbolism of entrapment found between the room and the main (toxic) couple was insane. need to read more baldwin!!!
martyr! - kaveh akbar
BOOK OF THE YEAR. no questions asked!!! so relevant during today's political climate in usa (unfortunately, ugh). a deep reflection of myself in akbar's writing
the house of my mother - shari franke
i hyper fixate a ton on youtube mysteries/conspiracies, but holy shit the 7 passengers issue was insane. plzzzz read this to truly understand how deeply disturbing child/family vlogs can become.
cultish: the language of fanaticism - amanda montell
i'm going through a bit of a cult-research rabbit-hole, so this book was necessary. i will say, i ain't the biggest fan of montell's podcast lmao
happy reading ya'll ⋆。°✩
