I'm playing project sekai again. After 2 years. I lost all my skills and I'm back to zero. What's more irritating is that I forgot to link my account, and I'm REALLY back to the start.
Ugh.
Nvm. It's just a game (a great one though).
What really matters is that I enjoy playing it, right? as well as getting the chance to see Miku everyday.

I'm in the same situation (the only difference is that I didn't lose my account, I just stopped playing for about five months).
What I recommend you do is to challenge yourself little by little. Choose a level/difficulty where you can get an FC without much trouble, and every day, try to get an FC on a higher level. Watch the magic happen over the weeks! :3
For example: if you can only get FCs on Hard/Level 20 songs, try to FC Level 21/22/23 songs every day, and so on. (It's also worth mentioning that if you lose an FC in the middle of a song, don't restart it—just play until the end and try again. There's a specific term for this, but I forgot what it is).
As for note speed, it's just a matter of preference. I don't know if you have a specific speed already, but just test it out and see what works best for you. For example, I play at 10.7, but I've met people who play at 11.8 (๑•﹏•)
Remember, the most important thing is to have fun! Don't turn the game into work or something boring, or you'll just end up frustrated :(
