Freshman Year

Being a freshman in college this year has been a challenge for me because I don't really know anyone at my campus. it doesn't help I live off campus either or the fact I can be shy around people, the semester just ended last week and I have made 3 friends at least though, does anyone recommend anything that could help someone overcome their shyness?
