❝ Prelude

hello, there. my name is toby (or hugh, though you can call me whatever you’d like), and this is the introduction to my blog! as in things i’ll be posting, and some information that i couldn’t quite fit onto my blurbs. apologies if this is a lot, i tend to be rather wordy. don’t feel required to read it all!

— please note, i am not using my usual inflection here! i am being purposely formal, because i’m attempting to be more concise with my wording. i swear i can experience whimsy.

❝ Overture

as for some information about me, i am an autistic, sixteen year old trans guy from the south of the USA. i really resonate with hannibal lecter, the vampire armand, nigel banyai, and cal roberts (all very concerning, i am aware) i am an insomniac, so i’ll be my most active during nights. 

i struggle with some mental health issues. varying from chronic depression to very possible BPD. i also have issues with extreme burnout. i am often exhausted i fear,, but i am trying to work on myself.

my primary muse currently, and for the last three years or so, is hugh dancy. i have watched nearly every show/film he has been in with the exceptions of madame bovary, black hawk down, and the new adventures of robin hood. to be fair, i prefer his newer work, so i suppose that’s unsurprising. i enjoy the hannibal extended universe, and the media that comes out from it. 

aside from hugh’s filmography, i am something of a cinephile overall. i truly adore cinema, most especially the soundtracks and scores within most films. i like to indulge in more trashy, campy, or vintage pieces, because they have an air of sincerity i really love. things produced with low budgets truly do have my heart. i don’t watch shows often, but i prefer long-form, live-action shows over anime and animations, with few exceptions. i don’t play games often, but i do enjoy watching gameplay a lot, particularly jacksepticeye. for reference, here are some of the pieces i like:

— ravenous (1999), cowboys (2020), the double (2013), manhunter (1986), stoker (2013)

— hannibal (2013), the path (2016), killing eve (2018), interview with the vampire (2022), criminal minds (2005)

— five nights at freddy’s (2014), detroit: become human (2018), arkham asylum (2009), death stranding (2019)

along with film, i don’t think i’d even be alive without music. my taste varies so widely that i can’t truly pin down many genres. anywhere from country, to early pop, to rock, to opera, i will listen to more-or-less anything. i’ve been enjoying a lot of ethel cain as of late, especially her latest album, if that’s anything. 

❝ Entr’acte

as for what i’ll be blogging about, it will definitely vary.

i am a writer who typically veers toward fanfiction, so i will probably post the occasional drabble. more often than not, i write about hannigram, or the hannibal extended universe, so don’t expect a multifandom brand of fan content. fair warning, i drift toward fandoms with dark themes and topics, so that will definitely bleed into my writing. i will put trigger warnings in the beginning of my posts if they need them. 

i may also post the typical daily-life blogging, chronicling my life, as it were. i am quite an oversharer, and sometimes i just need to get my thoughts out when they’re jumbled. i am also planning on rambling about fandom culture, character analysis and headcanons, film reviews, and album reviews at some point. i am a chronic infodumper, and i hope that will amuse someone lol.

anywho, i think that’s all. this post may be alternated here and there if i decide to add anything more or if something listed is no longer relevant. i pray that this is legible, i’m writing it at 3 a.m. instead of doing my seminar work (ᵕ —ᴗ—)
