hiiii :D i've never posted poetry on here before, but theres a first time for everything hehehe. i wrote this back in october/november of last year, for my english class. the assignment was to write a riddle poem like they did in the middle ages, where you had to use figurative language & imagery to describe something without explicitly saying what it was, so the audience had to guess :3

She’s an older woman, taller than I am.
Brightest sight in January,
sweetest scent of spring.
Long limbs like weathered leather, but
always carefully manicured.
She holds a champagne bottle
parasol
that rustles in the breeze.
Sometimes a nuisance, but kinder than I am.
Dropping Spanish gold into the streets,
only for it to be kicked around.
Her knobbly labor is opened up
and easily pulled apart into
pure honeyed segments.
She lends me her parasol
on our summer afternoon strolls.
I miss her when she leaves.
Her shoes still lie stubbornly in the grass.
