Iโve seen a lot of alternative ppl shopping from SHEIN, Romwe, Temu, Amazon, Dollskill etc latelyโฆ which isnโt great.
The entire alternative subculture is based around anti-establishment beliefs, and these fast fashion brands go against everything we stand for. Giving them money, no matter how little, is an ethical betrayal.
An excuse I hear a lot (A LOT) is that DIY is โtoo expensiveโ or โtoo time consumingโ (bullshit) so Iโm going to drop sum tips for DIY so u too can be anti-consumerist!! <3
My number one tip is to HOARD. Hoard as much as you can fit in your space- stickers, magazines, yarn and clothing scraps, actual old clothes and honestlyโฆ just things you find on the side of the road. I call this Crow Mentality- pick up things that shimmer and shine to you, that make your eyes sparkle with joy, clean them up and you WILL find a use for it eventually! These are your resources- good job! Ur halfway there!
Secondly, there are SOME skills you should probably have before you start- such as hand sewing. And, unfortunately, supplies are a must. Things like superglue, hot glue, needle and thread, possibly paint or markers! From here, you can YouTube specific tutorials similar to the materials you have on hand.
Itโs also helpful to have a general idea of what you want to create or upcycle- Clothes? Accessories? Gifts? Have an idea first. I get my inspiration from Pinterest, which is a great source for different styles and aesthetics and ideas. You can create boards for your inspo and sort them! There are also tutorials and links as well as patterns. Itโs one of my most useful toolsโฆ
This is all very broad, general information for beginners about how to start DIYing- if you have specific questions, you can comment them or IM me!!
Help each other out- Drop your punk DIY tips in the comment section!! <3

I don't DIY that much(I'm trying to get into it more though) but my tips are to save as many tutorials as you can on pinterest or youtube or wherever, to look through all your stuff and not rule anything out, and to know that sometimes the stuff you make won't look great. DIY is all about trial and error and making something without supporting large corporations. Some of the stuff I've made didn't turn out how I wanted and some of it did so you shouldn't get to upset or give up.
Excellent tips, indeed- thx for sharing <3 Saving tutorials in advance is always helpful for when you get that "I must create" mentality for a few days lol
