Izzyzzz's new video on Why there are no online spaces for children anymore is sad yet insightful

As someone with younger sibling's it always concerns me how much my siblings are online nowadays especially kids under 10 who are growing up in a world where they have immediate access to sites like Instagram, Tiktok (well, until it gets banned in the states), and Twitter. I grew up with spaces like Club Penguin, ToonTown Online, Neopets and other sites that catered to children and young teens. Hell, I even played on Jumpstart one of the oldest MMO sites for literal elementary school kids helping me learn math, reading comprehension, science and other basic life skills that I'm not really seeing being taught right now. This is why I really miss the old web not only in it's aesthetic but, I miss the semi clear separation that gave children a space to learn about the web while still being entertained in the process. The old web was more whimsical, charming and had dedicated people who worked hard to create a space for those who were the most vulnerable.

The old web isn't just an aesthetic movement for me, it was a time where I actually felt like I could express myself creatively in spaces that were designed for me.
