periods gotta be a prank at this point

Like bro, you’re telling me that unless I choose to get pregnant in the future (which I probably never will), I’ll have to deal with this garbage ordeal monthly until maybe my 50’s if not later??? say sike rn 😭 not to mention that menopause is pretty hellish too from what I hear. Being AFAB is exhausting, I swear.

And it’s like, yeah, stopping your cycles with birth control is an option. But birth control makes me feel kinda garbage too, and it’s not even a guarantee that your periods will stop completely, or at all.

the cramps, bloating, nausea, fatigue, upset bowels, back pain…it's actually ridiculous. If I was president, every AFAB person would get excused time off from school, and paid excused time off from work during their periods.

The worst part is that, Ive heard research on women's health doesnt get as much funding as other things. I 100% believe there is, not a cure persay but better medicine other than painkillers and birth control (birth control is its own problem), that would relieve a lot of the symptoms and make periods a completely forgettable thing. I mean that like it just happens every month and theres no dread or inconvenience at all by it. I hate that theres 101 solutions for men's dick problems but when it comes to women were expected to shut up and pretend like nothings happening

That’s so true! Female reproductive health and even just general health is such an afterthought in the medical world. I don’t know for sure, but I feel like it’s gotta be because of misogyny. As patients, we often get gaslit by doctors about our very valid concerns/symptoms. And you’re right, we’d probably have much healthier alternatives for managing menstruation if more people in the medical field actually gave a damn. I hate it here <\3
