20 weeks of paramore - week 4 - decode

"my thoughts, you can't decode..."

week 4 is here, and somewhat predictably, the song i'd like to highlight this week is decode! honestly, i would be lying if i said this song didn’t carry me through high school. listening to it while doing work, or making food, or laying down and imagining being in the forest has brought me a lot of comfort. but this isn’t about me!!!

the more popular of paramore’s twilight soundtrack songs, but as much as i adore i caught myself i totally understand why this one shines a little brighter. the song itself encapsulates the entirety of a cold atmosphere, the fluctuations between determination to grow closer, and uncertainty within the true strength and worth of a connection. 

my favorite part is definitely the last minute or so of this song-- an entire song's worth of back-and-forth within one's mind, incessant stressful trains of thought until the singer comes to her conclusions, certain, revealing her proximity to the listener's (vampiric) secrets and deeply hoping they're true regardless. it almost feels like a cliffhanger as the song trails out-- despite such, the anticipation remains, and we wonder what happens after the end of the song.
