before i start off this section, dont expect any scenecore bs in here. if ur looking for non problematic scenecore recs + hyperpop however, check the hyperpop section below.

scene music is a mishmash of a ton of genres: 

edm, "myspace music" (crunkcore, electropop, etc.), screamo, 2000s pop, internet meme songs, and in some cases "mall emo" music + stuff from the hardcore scene.

however, due to the notoriety of myspace famous scene kids + the culture of scene in general, some artists have become increasingly tied to scene culture.

this is what i mean when i say smthing is "scene music". its not necessarily one genre. rather, its a group of bands and artists from different genres that define a culture.

omfg is more meme music than anything, but he was around for the scene + ive seen many old scene youtbers from 2014-2017 using these songs. scene was dying at this point (as myspace shut down), so ik that many people tried to migrate outward to diff sites.

he's also a scene youtuber! his new videos can be uh...rather strange, but his older videos are rly fun + nostalgic for me.

he also makes music, and i stumbled across his music when brokencyde released a collab w/ him!

all in all, some of u all may think hes a poser for doing collabs with tiktok ppl, honestly i dont rly care as long as hes not fetishising scene or doing Tx2 level posing shit.

at least he was there for myspace craze bruh <,3

as rave culture began to rub off on the scene (where tf did u think all the kandi, fluffy leg warmers, n shutter shades came from, huh? its not just 80s fashion!) so did some of the music.

hence why there is some overlap between techno + scene.

out of all EDM artists though, I feel that s3rl is most commonly associated with scene now. theres others out there like breathe carolina who are still fairly popular among scene kids, but honestly. i dont really like them all that much.

he was my main introduction to electronic music as a whole, cuz again, I first heard his music when i was like 4, and it just stuck with me.

Random unorganised songs that SLAP!!!

Tänzelcore and Keller Synth are both genres that stem out of ambient black metal, but have sorta completely taken it to more of a dark electronic fantasy sounding thing. 

so its not considered black metal at all.

not sure how to describe them honestly :P lots of emphasis on fantasy, magic, history, + mix in some eastern european folklore, but also add in a little bit of satanism + misanthropy sometimes lmao

Tänzelcore is a little bit more inspired by hardcore techno like gabber + happy hardcore, but adds in elements of black metal, like distorted vocals (sometimes), low audio quality, etc., but it's more techno than metal if anything. Tänzelcore is a newer genre.

Keller synth, on the other hand, is a much older genre that has closer roots to black metal. It's more closely related to dungeon synth, but it still has a more melodic + electronic feel to it. im not quite sure how to describe this genre, but it also makes use of a low quality sound, video game sounding synths (duh), in some cases black metal vocals (growling/screaming) etc. however, it usually isnt as upbeat as tänzelcore. ("tanzen" means dance in german. hence, "dance"core)

**these genres r a nazi minefield tho (like in the black metal scene), so know that in some cases u must separate the art from the artist, or maybe dont listen to an artist at all bc their music is inherently about nazism.

MORKESIS

literally one of my most favourite artists ever :D hes a dude from brazil who makes rly kewl music

(he also has a side project that i have put in the black metal section!)

BUT!!!! if ur looking for a (afaik) not problematic keller synth project, he's def a good artist to listen to!!! :D

(yes i am a madre muerte productions glazer lmao; if u like anything ambient black metal, keller synth, or tanzelcore, consider checking all the artists on the label out :D madre muerte has also openly stated theyre anti-nsbm, so id say theyre not as problematic as the majority of artists u'll find in the genre)

I tend to like DSBM and Dungeon Synth (which stemmed from ambient black metal iirc, its not necessarily black metal but im still grouping it here bc im feeling lazy.)

** this genre is also a minefield of nazis + weirdos, so before u get too invested in a band or artist, always make sure u know who you are supporting ;v;

if u wanna recommend black metal to me, please dont recommend any nsbm! :) 

im all for separating art from artists, like dont get me wrong i like music by bsod and mayhem and both were pretty problematic, but when the art itself is the problem or is problematic, that's where I draw the line.
