Ahhh, the arrival of spring…!
Well I don’t know about you my dear readers, but where I live spring announces her arrival like a loud whisper.
The unwatched yards get blanketed in splashes of yellow and purple, the line between a weed and a flower becomes unclear , the bees buzz again, and the most anticipated of it all, the cherry blossoms!!!!

That’s right! where I live, the end of march is a coveted time, when many flock from all around to stroll beneath a pale pink tunnel of soft petals. I am no stranger to these sightseeing activities as I’ve gone to see the blossoms at their peak with my mum for a couple of years now. We make it our outing, and I’m very excited, because tomorrow is that day! ♥︎

So what have I been up to lately? Hmm, let’s think.
Here’s what I’ve read recently:
- Compound Fracture by Andrew Joseph White
- Breasts and Eggs by Mieko Kawakami
- Bel Canto by Ann Patchett
I’ll do a little review of them!
Compound Fracture is a book by one of my favorite authors, Andrew Joseph White, who writes these epic books about trans and queer kids fighting tooth and nail for their rights to live ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ his use of body horror and horror in general is so skin crawlingly good, and the setting and plots of each book are diverse and interesting. Compound Fracture was set in a small town in West Virginia, I definitely recommend you give it a read although it’s not for the faint of heart!
***
Breasts and Eggs was a book that made me rethink not having a kid in the future, it was so well written. The way Kawakami writes about female autonomy and desire is so moving and inspirational. If you’ve ever thought about motherhood or the modern woman then you should read this book.
***
Bel Canto was a book I could not put down, what a story! From a dinner party to a kidnapping to an intricate story of love and human connection that ties the reader in through every page, Bel Canto had me hooked. The characters leap from the page in a story about language, passion, and dare I say the friends we make along the way !!

Sorry for yapping so much yall, I’ve just read so many good books lately!! (>人< )~~

Spring is such a lovely time, isn’t it? It makes you feel like a dew drop and a brand new leaf, waiting to see where I’ll go, if ill slide onto the soil, or into someone’s freshly brushed hair, or into the mouth of a thirsty snail.
Spring by Mary Oliver

Somewhere
a black bear
has just risen from sleep
and is staring
down the mountain.
All night
in the brisk and shallow restlessness
of early spring
I think of her,
her four black fists
flicking the gravel,
her tongue
like a red fire
touching the grass,
the cold water.
There is only one question:
how to love this world.
I think of her
rising
like a black and leafy ledge
to sharpen her claws against
the silence
of the trees.
Whatever else
my life is
with its poems
and its music
and its glass cities,
it is also this dazzling darkness
coming
down the mountain
breathing and tasting;
all day I think of her—
her white teeth,
her wordlessness,
her perfect love.
- house of light. 2001
she is simply a genius at her craft!
If you’re looking for a spring-like manga or anime, I recommend Skip to Loafer, my favorite shoujo manga and its anime adaptation! A very cute story about a country girls life at a Tokyo high school.
A few days ago I bought a sheer white babydoll top secondhand alongside a wine purple plaid and polka dotted dress in a similarly babydoll cut. I’ve been mixing and matching them and they are just so darn cute!
The best thing about spring is that it’s the colors of my whole wardrobe !
***
All around me the magnolias and the dogwoods, the rose bushes and colorful hyacinths, the daffodils and the crocuses, a blooming world ♥︎

Have a good spring !
