To the stars 6 (Sexual dimorphism)

just going to copy stuff out of my history text books, abbreviate and add some commentary.

Sexual dimorphism is the systematic difference in form between individuals of different sex in the same species.

As I said it before the queendom was practically given to female part of my species by nature. Females are much stronger, bigger, smarter then your average guy. I heard some stories that it doesn't take much effort for them to tear somebody in half with bare hands.

it wouldn't be bad by it's own, but these individuals have this strange thing that can only be described as psychic aura. Any male in this zone will be immediately mentally frightened by sheer presence of female near by. It gets worse when your own Queen is standing next to you. Direct obedience and pure fear are guaranteed. Nature has its own ways, its own morals. How can you go against it?

Looking from the outside, it looks more like insect colony then anything else, in a way? It's a bit complicated with parentages... 

99% of the whole population are males, other 1% are females.

Everything was divided into Houses with families, and every house had a name.

Average house consisted of 1-5 Queens, who were usually related to each other and 100-600 drones, basically workers.

Drones worked for the house they lived in and their Queen. Most drones were related to the Queens in the family, but it was a common thing to use spare workers for trades or presents. Maybe you wanted a statue that perfectly conveys your likeness, then you can get a guy that will do it for you by exchanging a dude who can draw most beautiful portraits. Certain skills were a high commodity and if you had a lot of engineers, artists or highly trained militia, you can easily aim for a status of a High Queen. Highest of highs, cream of the crop.

Living conditions for your average Tom, who can't doo much were poor. You were lucky if you slept in a bunkbed. Usually, your work station will be your place of residence, such as toolshed or just under the workbench. Or you could get a place in shared big room filled with mattresses and pillows. In winter you would have to hug it out with your friends not to get sick or freeze to death. A lot of people point to this as to why now you can usually see something similar around in public places, people snoozing together on a bench. It's some kind of ancient tradition of partnership and comradery. Personally i don't get it.

And bedding chambers felt less like chambers and more so like being tightly packed like a can of  some fish, working conditions was slave labor on the regular and you were expected to die for a woman that you only heard whispers about. Quite fascinating to think we've all somehow moved on from such a time to where now even a simple cabin no longer feels like a luxury.

If you were one of the mentioned artists, engineers, personal servant of the Queen or even one of the favorites, you could get your own room and in general better living conditions. In theory this encourages better work ethic for others. 

Queens themselves had rich rooms, offices and recreation areas. Huge castles that contain all the various industries, the drones' habitats and the gardens, everything inside the walls. The highest living conditions, luxurious food and entertainment, all this is available if you know how to properly manage your home and deal well with other families.
