I might not be the best one for advice, as I don't really have that many friends here. But what seams to help in my experience is to have a good profile (cute/cool layout and blurbs that show who you are), do some blog posts and interact with other people's blog posts (I prefer to filter by recent instead of popular), and lastly, be nice and have patience, you will find your people or your people will find you.
