Manado Flood 2025

Okay, so from 21 to 23 March, 2025, there was a flood in my city, Manado City, Province of North Sulawesi, Indonesia. This is due to the non-stop rain that has continued for more than a week. In other areas in this province, there were also floods.

The flood was not a flash flood, the flood happened slowly. This flood is a combination of river, pluvial and urban floods. The river, flat areas and drainage system cannot absorb any more water, they were already too saturated. So that's how it happened.

Luckily, because my house or my grandmother's house is one or one and a half metres higher than the road, the water did not enter the house, only as far as the front garden. Of course it's scary, especially if the flood water hits the water pump machine, but thankfully it doesn't.

There were certainly a lot of power outages in those three days in many areas, but now everything is back on. If the power goes out I can't use my smartphone to save battery. I feel sorry for those who are affected by the flood. Hopefully they will be helped in their recovery.
