March 26th, 2025                                                                           "Intro Blog Entry "

Hello, and welcome to my first blog entry (ever!) :D

It's hard to figure out what exactly to write here, but I think that a good way to kick off this little internet journal is for you to get to know me a little better than my profile page can deliver- as well as telling you what I'm going to be doing with this blog (basically everything lol).

First off, let's talk about who I am!

My name online is LemoneAide, but you can call me Lemone for short if you like. When I was younger, I always really loved the idea of being a part of an online community of artists, nerds, and just fun people. Even though I didn't have social media growing up, I would always browse internet forums and screenshots from Tumblr and MySpace, and hearing internet drama either from YouTube or from my friends who did have socials. Looking back, it's definitely good that I wasn't allowed to post anything on the web, but I still remember feeling left out of the conversation- like I was missing out on all these wonderful things that were happening juuust out of reach.

All of that to say, finding SpaceHey and Neocities was AMAZING for me. I just really think this is going to be the revival of cozy online areas, where real people can just talk and mingle like they used to before the Boring Web took hold.

Anyways. Things I like! I love to draw (obviously lol) but I consider myself more of a general artist. I've played the guitar and sang since age 5, and I know a few other instruments as well. Music's always been a big part of my life, and it's also my focus in university. I not only perform, but also write and produce songs. Which is very fun!! :3

I also ADORE scrapbooking!! I have this one journal that I've kept for about 2 years now, and I've still barely filled it in, but it's so fun to add more stickers and candy wrappers and random stuff I collect through life. Flipping through it is so cool, because every item has a meaning, and I can point to every single memory and event connected to each one. I'm not as good as the girlies on YouTube who have whole cutesy journal spreads, but I think my skills are improving. My Miku spread was the best one

Honestly, I do a lot of stuff, most of which I'll probably talk about throughout the blog/scrolling art gallery.

I love talking about what topics I'm curious about day-to-day, which can be a bit exhausting on my part because I always find something new I want to deep dive into, but don't always have time :(. I'm currently trying to get better at researching and documenting my thoughts better, so maybe parts of this blog can be dedicated to my analysis of certain media or topics I find interesting! Right now, I'm researching the idea of polyamory (not because I didn't know what it was- I was curious how it became so stigmatised in so many societies), and so far I'm learning a lot that I didn't know not only about the identity itself, but also its impacts on governance and societal structure.

JELLYFISH!!

(I didn't know how to segway into this sorry) A very important fun fact about me is that I love jellyfish!! They're my favourite animal ever, and I'm really into all the different species and their bodily structures. To me, they are the most fascinating creatures ever, and so I think that every time I do a blog, I will include a "jellyfish of the day" section at the very bottom. It'll just be a little picture of what jelly we're looking at, the scientific name, some fun facts, and my personal feelings about what type it is! Call me National Geographic I guess. :P

I think this little intro explained a baseline for who I am pretty well, so thanks for taking the time to read it. I know for some people, including myself, it's difficult to break down long stretches of text- and I also feel like I type very formally (??) so I really appreciate it <3

I guess I'll see you next time I post, so for now, thanks for stopping by the LemoneAide stand!

꩜~*' Jelly Journal '*~

Jelly of the day: Moon Jellyfish (Aurelia aurita)

(picture from BioExpedition)

Basic Info:

  • Their tentacles are typically only 1-5cm in length
  • As carnivores, moon jellies will basically eat anything smaller than them- including other jellyfish
  • The nickname "moon jelly" comes from their translucent, circular white/pale blue bell (which is rather pretty, making this one of the most popular jellyfish people usually like)

Fun Fact:

YOU CAN EAT THESE MOTHERFUCKERS!!!

This might not sound astounding, but it is when you consider that there are only eleven edible species of jellyfish out of the thousands of species that exist! I'm from the US, which is why this was BIG news to me, but I've read that in more east Asian countries, people will eat Jellyfish Salad. Essentially, you soak the bell in water to cleanse it, then slice it into ribbons (almost like noodles!) and then you toss that bitch into a bowl with some garlic, green onions, soy sauce, chili oil, and sesame oil. And then BAM there you have it, chomp his head. I hear that the texture can either be pretty rubbery or crunchy depending on what portion of the bell you're eating, as well as how you've prepared it.

I don't think I'd personally try this dish, but it's kind of cool to know that it exists. If you've ever had jellyfish as a delicacy before, or you want to try to make a jellyfish dish, let me know! I'm very curious :D
