A Resentment Of Time

A Resentment Of Time

Chapter 1

Time. we all have it. But I seem to have more of it.

I don't mind, in fact I love it. But with every good thing there seems to be a price, and my price is well, them. Eliana Tryvin, of course that's not their name in every rebirth just in this one and it seems to be the worst. It was 1982, January 11, it was below freezing and I was spending time with my family. We were so excited for the new year and I was so happy I haven't run into her all of my life (so far) but little did i know that would change and soon.

“Who's that at the door?” my mom asked

“Well it is freezing, I'll get the door!”

I said joyfully, thinking it was one of my friends.I opened the door and I smelled the familiar scent of lavender and hibiscus tea, I knew who it was. I look up and of course to my demise, it's without a doubt Eliana. “Hi, is it okay if i” they stop in the middle of their sentence

“ do i?... oh… hello Nichole.”

they said i can hear the deep pool of disappointment in their tone. I can tell they wanted to be at someone else's front door step even if it meant frostbite. It was oddly comforting, the weather it was the look on their face or the comfort of knowing that my other lives were real or even the smell. I don't know. All I know is that the feeling is comfort.

"I'll just go."

"NO! I mean I guess you can come in."
