Puppy Game Review 01 : Little Friends Puppy Island

Hello I'm Fangirl/Cerberus,
I'm a fellow dog obsessed person ૮ ⌐■ﻌ■ა and so I try to have dog everything and play dog everything (<-freak)

So naturally I usually go on hunts for puppy games ! >:3
And boy it's hard sometimes...game lists often envolve games where there's just a dog somewhere in the game...NOT PUPPY FOCUSED AT ALL !!! ૮>m<ა
So here I am with my own list and my own review  !!

~Little Friends Puppy Island~

Little Friends Puppy Island, that i'll call Puppy Island for short, is a cozy adventure game that is available on Switch and Steam for 39,99€ (
$39.99). In this game, you play the owner of a husky puppy who decided to go on a mysterious paw shaped island for vaccations. After exploring to get familiar with the place, you realise that this island is not as simple as it seems : it is filled with mysteries and tons of stray puppies to adopt !

Here's the nutshell review :

Did I find this game fun ? Yes !!

Do I think it's worth the price ? No.. :< (I personally got it when on sale)

Does it have puppies/dogs ? Manyyy !!! And they're cute !

How long is the game ? Between 10 to 30 hours I think (I have 16h and i'm not done hehe)

Long review :

The following review will be a mix of subjective opinions and obervations so keep that in mind ૮ • ﻌ - ა
When you start the game you have no choice on your starter puppy and automatically get the default husky though you can still pick a name for it ! I named mine Jam hehe

Jam

The first thing you do with your puppy is go on walk with a leash attached to your dog, kind of like in nintendogs except it only controls the direction of your dog and not the speed (that's with shift !). As you get to explore the first area, you get to play different minigames to either cross certain areas or just some bonus exp because yes your dogs have stats !

There are 5 stats that all go from level 1 to 5 : Agility (upgradable with clearing trail obstacles, helping out with jobs, playing flying disc, fetch and running/walking on trails), Endurance (upgradable with any form of exercice and also the longest to train), Friendliness (upgradable with making new friends, petting, showing affection, jobs, socializing with other pups at home and praise), Obedience (upgradable with praise, jobs, fetch and winning the distraction minigame) and  the last one Speed (upgradable with running, playing flying disc, jobs, fetch and walks).
stats

You canno walk with your dog endlessly however, as they have multiple bars that will deplete (or fill up for the exercising bar). The one that will tell you when to take a break from your travels is the hunger bar which you can fill by feeding your dog wet or dry food at home (for free >:3) but there is also the cleanliness bar that goes down every time your dog digs or run, that you can then fill up by bathing them at home. The last bar is the affection one which progressively goes low over time, you can fill it by petting your dog at any moment.

On your adventures you'll fall upon very muddy stray dogs that you can adopt by succesfully doing two minigames ! Once that is done the new pup will follow you around until you get home, there it will wait in the bathtub for you to wash them and discover their real look !

There are currently 8 breeds of dog :
- Husky
- Labrador
- Pug
- Dalmatian
- Dachshund
- Shiba Inu
- Chihuahua
- English Bulldog

Each having a number of pelts I haven't discovered yet...
I've seen people say that they dislike some of the dog models, espcially pugs, but I personally find them all cute ! (even if the chihuahua on the loading screen is haunting my nightmares)

You can dress each of your pets (the clothing items aren't limited to one pet) with bunch of cute and funny accessories you can either find by digging or the shops. The currency, bones, can be acquired by dogs with a job, quests or by digging !

I find this game very relaxing and particularly enjoy discovering the secrets of every new area ! The game can feel repetitive for many but I think it's what I enjoy the most about fetch quest games, just some brain off time <3

This is the end of my review, I'll be trying some other games very soon ! I already have a list prepared but you can also leave some dog games recommendations if they cross your mind !

Here's my favorite puppy pico as a goodbye :
