The Nikon D3000: 1 Day In

While I was at a store yesterday, I was looking for a 3DS battery & case, when all of a sudden, I found a Nikon D3000. It was listed for 75$ and refurbished. I decided to buy it, since I've been wanting my own professional camera for a while.

Nikon D3000

Setup

It looked like it was in very great condition, pictures captured good, and it even came with a free 8GB SD card. I decided to put in my own 32GB SD card however. Took a while to figure out how to format it, just to realize its just a button in the settings menu. It also has a manual mode, so i had to set that up. I mainly use manual for night photography, gotta capture the stars.

Accessories

My mom has her own camera and accessories, but some accessories, like lens attachments, don't work. Her lens is bigger, sadly, so this means i need my own accessories. Some accessories do work, like flash attachments, and the tripod my mom uses.... kinda. It swivels for no reason, which means it might be a pain trying to take night photography with the camera pointed up, when it keeps swiveling back down to the ground.

Photos

I did take this camera over to the lake to take a picture, and it does have great photo quality. I took some photos of the water, the lake, and later went back home to take photos of the animals we have. The only issue i have is probably with the lens, i see some random red pixels in the image at times. It could always be dust on the inside of the camera however, i don't know. Here's the images though.

Overall

For 75$, this is an amazing deal for a camera. I'm glad i found this instead of looking for a 3DS battery and case. (In case if your curious, they didn't have the battery or case.) It takes great high quality images, and definitely gets the job done. For it being a 15 year old camera, its amazing. I would rate it an 8/10.
