The final poem I'll upload tonight, unless I find something old and actually like it. This one is simple and spiteful and really not particularly pretty. For the record, I have nothing against hyenas. I simply found someone's cackling simultaneously obnoxious and evocative of one.
Hyena
Hyena, I call, and I point one accusatory finger
in your general vicinity
and you howl your boisterous laugh,
pinwheel into a stack of cans assembled for minimum wage,
and hardly hear me at all,
because your father's money has you set
for top-floor offices,
penthouse suites in the boneyard,
six-figure finances, ordering computers,
tearing at sinew.
There is violence in your hands,
heavy and clawed,
clutching your clubs, holding your girls
too tightly,
rending them, hating them,
and what of us? We rot
in your graveyards,
hold our boyfriends with weak hands,
quietly ashamed, an equivalent exchange,
ears plugged with wax.

these are interesting i think its cool. so do you like, just make these on free time or is it like you see something that really makes you wanna write and you just go. idk i guess I'm interested in the process but it sounded like wayyyy better when i was thinking about it but they're both really the same thing now that its out
Your question isn't stupid, and I understood it, for the record. I think it's just based on an urge to get out thoughts that I can't properly convey in another medium. This poem particularly wasn't exactly a "free time" thing - it was quite spur of the moment (I think I started writing it in class, though not while I was engaged with anything else?). Sometimes it is a bit more of a dedicated activity, but not in this instance.
