i will never understand why people gatekeep stuff. i mean, i guess there's the exclusivity of liking a certain piece of media with a small fandom or whatever, but don't you like sharing things? i love sharing things, ESPECIALLY with my friends. it might be because i'm a very sentimental person, but i love sharing my interests with my friends. art is something that means so much to me, so, whenever i share something i like with you, it's like i'm giving you a piece of my soul. and then, when you start liking that thing because of me, it's like a piece of me lives within you now.
this goes the other way around, too. whenever someone puts me onto something, every time i consume that media, i will always think of the person who recommended it to me.
it's not just with friends, but with strangers, too. i love telling random people i don't know and probably never will interact with again on the internet about bands/artists i like. just knowing that at least one more person is listening to that person because of me just makes me feel so damn good.

sharing things you love is the ultimate way of showing your love for something! if you really love something you should want to tell all your friends about it, and make it even more loved. i think. maybe I'm too joypilled. ive wondermaxxed too much

YES !! i think im the actual counterpart of a gatekeeper because of how much i try to drag people in with stuff i'm interested in. like shit, i'm a missionary for nascar atp

this is so real. anyone who disagrees is truly childish and selfish. they act as if they were the one making the piece of media that they're gatekeeping and it's so dumb. gatekeeping is nothing but elitism; just something people do so they can seem better than everyone else for doing it. actual 1st grade behavior.

i relate hard to this, and especially if the content is lesser known or it's someone trying to get big. like, how are you going to want a small artist to succeed while meanwhile keeping them hidden? i've found many new artists from reading people's rambles about them. :-P
