thinking about picking up bass guitar

i've been wanting to start playing the bass for a while now but was never able to get my hands on one. about a year ago i did get to play around with one in my music class since the teacher brought it in, and i liked it. i'd been interested in the bass before that but after experiencing it hands-on i thought why not pick it up for real. but that was literally just. one single time ever + it's been a while. (in my head it plays out like a scene in an anime where the main character discovers they have a passion for something LOL)

my biggest problems in getting one are price and space. i'm going to be relying on my savings here so the very very most i'd realistically be able to spend is like 300 bucks... actually i'm not sure about that. i'll need to figure out a space to place my bass too. my room is a tiny bit cramped but i have a little free space in the corner i could use. as for brands i'm considering between harley benton, squier, and yamaha. secondhand if i can find it. oh, i need to get an amp too... aughh!

in the meantime, i do have a keyboard at home that i practice in my spare time to learn basic music theory. it's not too bad, but i prefer the feel of playing a string instrument, and a bass at that...

i don't just wanna listen, just listening to the music and bass players i like make me feel like i'm missing out. i wanna doooo . . . └⁠|⁠∵⁠|⁠┐⁠♪
