"Mental health matters" until...

They have to stay in bed for 5 days in a row, or they're touch averse, or need lots of reassurance, or cry over stuff you think should be easy, or you think they're an attention seeker, or have a weird sleeping schedule, or they have mood swings, or they look scruffy/tired/messy, or they don't have a condition you can make seem cutesy, or they seem like they're fishing for compliments, or they talk about it too much, ot they're too clingy and excited sometimes or they, or they, or they, etc....

Idk like I wanna be honest about the stuff some people woukd think reflects badly on me bc the stigma sucks. Like I have people who care about me and want to help but I still feel so ashamed and unwilling to talk about the parts that some people think would reflect poorly on me, like the stuff I said about up there.

PLEASE stop pretending you gaf about mental health if you only respect the aspects you can notice and still see the person affected as some perfect victim by your standards.

I think some people don't understand that all of these things are symptoms of an ILLNESS just like with a physical one. If someone has a cold it would be weird to only feel bad for them when they cough, and then to think they're a disgusting person if they get a runny nose because it looks gross. It's not like that reflects on their character. They're just ill.

We are all aware that sometimes it gets so bad people die, so why do some people react so adversely to learning that some people struggle doing things like changing clothes often enough, when that is much less extreme. It's just about this weird stigma that you can be as sad and as hurt as you want, as long as it's palatable.

People who genuinely struggle with motivation to do basic stuff don't need to have perfect hygiene to be worthy of judgement free support!!

People with serious legitimate medical conditions don't have to be flawless and kind and easy to infantilise and romanticise all the time to deserve treatment and compassion!!
