Severance ✪ ω ✪ (Finale)

I’m so glad I picked up this show. I have zero regrets. I love thinking deeply about the unconscious vs. the conscious. If you haven’t finished the season consider this your spoiler warning.

I LOVE Helly/Helena's character. The moment Helena told Helly she wasn’t a person, that’s when I knew that Helena didn’t love herself, because what do you mean that you don’t consider this part of you, as real 😭?? I love Helly, girly was a revolutionary.

Irving was the GOAT. I love how he grew as a character. And the parallels of his love story with Bert broke my heart. The way his innie wasn’t ready to kiss Bert, but his outie was 😭. He was the first to recognize that Helly was actually Helena, I love him.

I actually didn’t entirely like Dylan’s character. I don’t know how to pinpoint my feelings but I just didn’t like him. I just think his outie and innie are both assholes with no real motive. But I did like how they explore Outie Dylan and Innie Dylan interacting with one another. Especially during the season finale with the letter, where Outie Dylan expresses his feelings and accepts the fact that Innie Dylan is not only him (by mentioning him falling for his wife) but his own person (giving him the option to leave).

I hate Devon and Ricken. I hate them so much. I understand that Devon is Mark's sister, but something about Devon and Ricken gives off white preformism vibes.

Mark is a very interesting character. I feel that it would have been very out of character of innie mark to choose Gemma at the end when he doesn’t know her. There has been a lot of discourse around this, about Mark choosing Gemma or Helly. But I feel like making this about choosing between two women, kinda downplays the whole thing. Mark was already hesitant before Helly yelled his name. This is about his life, if he walks out of that door to Gemma, he doesn’t know if he will come back. Also what about the other innies?

I also want to mention that the way that outie mark handled the whole situation, talking with his innie was fuckin terrible, and it was supposed to be. There was no way that it would have ended well because he never had good intentions to begin with. He tried to make it seem that he care for Innie and his mistreatment but in reality, he never fuckin cared. The only reason that outie Mark did reintegration was due to the possibility that his wife may still be alive.

And I see people saying that innie mark is selfish for choosing Helly, with no plan out etc. In response I would say, that Mark as a whole is a selfish person, like I stated before he never cared about the mistreatment of his innie and literally did anything in his power to get his wife back. Innie mark did the same thing that outie mark would have done, because they are the same person.

Reflections

This whole show makes me think about how I would react if placed in this situation. The biggest thing I can’t predict is who my innie would be. Especially looking at Helly and Helena character and seeing how different they are. So I decided to create a tarot spread “Innie Therapy”.

Additionally, I like to mention that it's pretty obvious that the outie people represent the conscious while the innie people represent the unconscious. I feel that reintegration represents shadow work, the act of accepting your “shadow self”. That's just how I personally view it.

Have you watched the show or planning to? What are your thoughts on the characters? Share any perspectives you have and your favorite theories for the next season.

I highly suggest you subscribe and stay tune for additional updates, because I will be posting the tarot spread, and sharing my reading that I did on myself.

Please share your thoughts below💋💕

this blog was so amazing to read !! i remember watching the first season and not being as hooked, but when season 2 kicked up i got really into it for some reason? maybe its because everyone around me were waiting weekly for episode to come out, my friends and i would just make groupchats theorizing about what was gonna happen next.

genuinely think severance brought something to modern media that we really needed, a sort of wake up call. even if its just silly little characters on a screen. also knew this was gonna be a banger the moment i saw ben stiller on the roster.

oddly enough dylan was probably my favorite character, i liked how at first he was what was pictured as the 'model employee' of working hard only for the rewards and benefits but despite all that coming in clutch for his family that he made inside. the way he was so adamant to know about his outie kid literally made me tear up, just him knowing he had a kid that he could never get to know really hit hard. i also tend to just find comfort in the comedy relief characters, its my crutch!

[the music on this blog is so good i love it so much literally the entire ost is so amazing]

awesome blog!! i love how you added the theme music.
Severance was such a FANTASTIC show and the finale was INSANE!! my jaw was on the floor the entire time i think.

i loved Irving's character a lot as well. him saying he was ready broke my heart so much.. it showed that love transcends even the chip..! Milchick is another favorite character- and the actor obviously had so much fun in the dancing segments haha. :)

i cannot hardly wait for the next season (i heard it may be like 3 years of a wait, but i also hear they already started production for it!! exciting..)
