Modern Christianity sucks

I think that modern Christianity is bull. it's made up, harmful, and delusional.

99% of Christians I've spoken to are the epitome of hate, so therefor, I hate Christianity.

I get your view, however I feel that you hate the followers not the teachings. most Christian teachings are pretty chill it's just the followers who cherry pick different parts of the bible that benefit them.

Christians won't kill you.
Have a pride parade in the US and then have one in Qatar. Then you'll witness real hatred.

as a agnostic, i understand that you've had negative experiences with christians, and that has shaped your view of christianity. however, judging an entire religion based on the actions of some followers might not be entirely fair. throughout history, christianity—like all major belief systems—has had both positive and negative impacts, depending on how it's interpreted and practiced. if you’re open to it, discussing specific concerns rather than generalizing might lead to a more productive conversation :)

You realise... "Old Christianity", like five hundred and even before that was extremely hostile to anyone who didn't agree with them and that now that does not happen? Like... Christians, at least true ones and with a more modern approach, do not force you to do anything and insult you based on your choices? They don't even believe that there's necessarily a hell and heaven.

that is also true, and I'm very glad lots of Christians today are far more accepting than they were. unfortunately, there are still many that are very very much not that.

Hating a whole religion just because of a few bad experiences you had with some of the members is little unfair don't you think? Now I'm not a Christian myself but I do think it's quite unfair to define a whole religion as bad just because of bad experiences you had some of the people in it.

I hate modern Christianity, I know plenty of good kind Christians (my boyfriend being one). but what is largely preached in churches is anti queer, racist, bigoted, etc. if you're not a hateful Christian like I described, then I don't think you're a modern Christian, because loving and hateful Christianity are unarguably two different religions.

I personally disagree, I think hateful Christians are not a whole another religion, I think their fakes because the whole point of Christianity is to be kind to everyone and if their not doing that then they are just not a real Christian, as simple as that.

Your point was somewhat understandable, but don't you still think it's wrong to say that you hate religion itself? And by using the word "hate", don't you think it's too strong? I'm a person devoted to God and to Jesus Christ, and I also don't think it's right the way some "believers" are preaching the word of the Lord. They are distorting the biblical commandments and this makes people have a bad view of our religion and our God, who is so loving, merciful and just. I really don't like this too.

I don't think hate is too strong of a word, because I do hate it. why should I love someone/something that doesn't love me or the things and people that I love. also, I don't hate God or the idea of God, just a chunk of his followers.

The issue with this can be explained in one word: context.

Better yet, examples. How do Christians hate you, as you say? And how is Christianity hateful, today?

If Christianity was bigoted and hateful, we would desire to kill, or to not have any kind of contact with those who don’t believe in Christ. But we preach the gospel. That we— and many of the things we think are good, like same-sex ‘marriage’ and pornography— are sinful.

That we have consciences given to us by God, who is the ultimate law-giver, and we go against them— even the imperfect consciences we have— daily. We deserve the wrath of God for every blasphemy, every sexual immorality, idolatry, theft, and lie that we say/do/take part in.

God is infinitely holy, just, and good. We are sinful, due to the fall of humanity that happened with Adam and Eve in the garden. We do not deserve heaven, but rather hell.

Yet, God has had mercy on us. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. He lived a sinless life, and died for us. Most people know that, but they don’t know this aspect of it:

The Ten Commandments, stated earlier as being against lying, theft, sexual immorality, idolatry, etc., are the moral law. You and I broke God’s law, but Jesus paid the fine. On the cross, Jesus took our punishment, the wrath of God that you and I deserve, in our place. He said, “It is finished,” just before He died. The debt has been paid.

Then He rose again on the third day, defeating death, and if you’ll simply repent and put your trust in Him, He will grant you everlasting life. He will clothe you in His righteousness; He was punished as if He lived our lives, so that we might be clothed with His righteousness and made holy in the sight of God.

This is the gospel. The good news. None of this is hate, nor is it bigotry. Instead, it is the Word of God given to mankind for the salvation of our souls.

May God bless you and bring you to a knowledge of His Word.
