süper düper pünk rant

part 1: the right

ok ok ok now i absolutely LUV pünk music and its subcultures such as skinheads, street punks, skate punks, surfer punks, HOWEVER, i feel as if the subcultures, primarily skinheads, are being hijacked by the far right. i feel like the bonehead " subculture " and those nazi " punks " subculture are growing more and more. this is because people are becoming more and more lenient towards far right radicalism because they feel like if the left is allowed to be radical then so should the right, however the left only became radical because the right began killing off the left and destroying a lot of groups (ethnic, culture, religious, etc).

Now, I feel as if genres such as NSBM are very much helping the far right grow because lots of black metal is just far right edgelords (such as varg vikernes) who say its for the shock factor, then in a few years they make some incredibly racist or fascist statement and it comes as a surprise to everyone that the person who was acting as a fascist for the shock factor turns out to actually be a fascist.

part 2: pozers

i ABSOLUTELY fucking HATE the posers of the punk subgenres. now, if youre going to get into punk music, don't limit yourself to one band or don't do any political association with the punk scene.

if you choose not to associate yourself politically with the punk scene, then you're an absolute poser, or if you choose to heavily limit what music you listen to into a few popular bands or just the mainstream punk subgenres (pop-punk primarily), then youre an absolute poser.

also, expand your taste and try not to listen primarily to the sellout bands. some great example of super popular sellout bands include Green Day, The Clash, The Misfits, Ramones, Sex Pistols, and the Dead Kennedys. the entire point of the punk subgenres is to resist capitalism and fascism, but then these bands come along and work with capitalists when it makes them money.

Another type of sellout bands is those that don't politically associate at all with anarchism or any leftist ideologies but continue to claim to be punk. The entire point of the punk scene is individuality and total freedom over yourself. Ideas of totalitarianism, authoritarianism, fascism, and capitalism do not allow these at all and so when you do not make a statement against them, you end up being part of the problem because you are not speaking out against the problem but rather choosing to ignore the problem because if you speak out against them, you would lose possible people to work with when you are in need of money.

POSER PUNKS FUCK OFF!
