Back when I was younger, several years ago, when I found about the idea of Myspace, I liked it from the first second. Unfortunately at that time, Myspace was a dead platform for many years. I always liked the idea of old social media and old internet, because it felt different, it felt like people were really connected, unlike today, when social media is mostly dead, even if there's millions of users worldwide.
When I found out about Spacehey, I was really happy, because for the first time I could experience something like that. Unfortunately the internet and people from 2009 are not the same as the internet and people in 2024-2025. Times have changed. Teenagers have changed. People have changed. And unfortunately, I can't really feel the old vibez.Â
Spacehey has a lot of issues and bugs, but it's respectable that it was made by someone who, at the time, was my age(For the record, Spacehey was founded in 2020 by a German guy who at that time was 18 years old, now he's like 23-24) Thanks Anton!! I really think spacehey will get better in the future too, and hopefully no big corporation will buy it, because Spacehey should stay underground.Â
What I like about spacehey is that, the people who are there are alt, so everyone has something special to show and to give, and I honestly love alternative people and authentic people who have a personality.
Unfortunately people in here are kind of inactive, that's the main reason why I have 1000 friends. I'm not a friend collector, but I always add new people, because the others are inactive, and they add up over time. I'm also lazy to remove inactive people. You can add me on alternative platforms, because I have spacehey friends that I stayed friend with for months because we started chatting on instagram or discord.Â
I really seek active people, so add me if you're active. I really wanna make friends and meet new cool and interesting people over here.
That's all that I wanna say for now. Maybe I'll write more later or complete my ideas.Â
Byezzz !!

I think a lot of (mostly younger) folk who didn't grow up with myspace, livejournal, or forums dont really know how to interact with them. People for like last 5-10 years are more used to consuming or paying to consume, rather than creating or engaging with other peoples home grown thoughts, art, and opinions in a non-ironic way. It's easy to make a profile, maybe mess around with html, and then fuck off back to instagram or tiktok where you can scroll endlessly for insta-dopamine instead of engage and create a different type of connection. For alot of people, spacehey is a lil aesthetic/ trendy thing to have, not 'real' social media. I don't agree with that line of thinking but I can understand why folk think that way. The internet is a complete 180 from how it used to exist and function, and itll take a lot of work individually and community wide to 'fix' it.
Social Media changed.

Personally, even though I'm kind of young, compared to you. Probably I fall in that category of young people you mention. Ever since I was a child I liked to create content. It's true that I'm a consumer too, but at heart I also tried creating many things. Blogging, Vlogging plus I'm a creator naturally and stream of unbounded creativity that I manifest in many ways(creating music, photography, writing blogs, playing Minecraft or any sandbox). I like the functions that spacehey provide, but the app itself is kinda dead. And you're absolutely right, there's a shift in how people use and perceive social media.
I wish to find more like-minded people on this app, I'm pretty sure there's plenty like me.
Maybe we can make social media more social and less media. Because without the social aspect, social media means nothing.

i mean, spacehey was never meant to be an app. they made an app available because alot of people find it 'annoying' or whatever that theyd only be able to use it at home on a computer. the way this site functions isnt actually made for an iphone.
use the website, you get the actual experience from it and its more fun too.

if you want more people to interact and give this place some life step one would probably not being rude for no reason when someone engages in conversation.

i agree, thats why i wont add new users. if they send a request ill let it sit for a few weeks and if theyre still active and we have similarities ill add em back.
theres also just nothing of substance in blogs, mostly just a bunch of kids posting every thought that comes in their mind that are probably better off on twitter or at least bulletins. then therss the constant 'FIRST BLOG POST!!' posts :|
i wanna see ACTUAL blog topics man. like photos, think pieces, blah blah blah. not just
'im tired'
to be honest i wish the people on here actually had an understanding of how things like myspace and personal sites were used back in the day. instead of coming on here and complaining its boring, i wish people used it like old web

even the active people here are just posting without commenting or liking blogs that makes the app feels kinda dead i'm not really active here due to my endless exams i hate it
