Does anyone have like, actual good black metal band recommendations?

ok, mayhem is good, but I am afraid I’ll be hated on for listening to them because apparently where they’re mainstream and have done bad things, that equals poser music.

I like just about any metal genre, but I wanna get into black metal and don’t know where to start

Hey now, mainstream doesn’t necessarily make it bad, or even poser music. Don’t let elitists get in your head, metal is metal, emo is emo, etc etc. it’s all taste-dependent.

Otherwise, since when do we let other people tell us what we can and can’t like? Doesn’t that kind of defeat the purpose?
