My favorite coworker had to suddenly move today and I didn't think it would hurt so much

I have been working at my current job for almost a year now, which is... something. 

I made the decision not to go back to my university after my degree program was nixed. This left me with summer and a semester length of time to figure out what I was going to do next. I applied to a shit ton of jobs and nothing was happening so I called my old boss, L,  at Dunkin (I had worked there 2 summers previous) and asked if she had any openings. So I ended up at a Dunkin/Baskin. I worked there for a week before the manager of that store told L that she didn't have room on the schedule for me. I got bounced to another Dunkin and worked there for a few months before I was moved to the one I currently work at. 

During this time I met Isaiah. We worked most night shifts together when I started and although he's a little younger than me we got along great from the start. Working with him has always been a blast. Recently he has been planning on moving a few hours away so he can get out of his mom's house. I knew he was going to leave and the thought made me sad, in fact, anytime we talked about it I told him that when he left I would leave. My place of work has a lot of problems and I have been planning on quitting for a while but I liked hanging out with Isaiah so I stuck around. 

He texted me this morning and told me that he got into a really bad fight with his mom last night and his friend, who he was going to move in with, came to pick him up today. It was a shock. Last Saturday we closed together, singing and dancing to music as we cleaned, and now I'm never going to have another Saturday with him. 

Isaiah became more than my coworker. He became my friend when I needed one the most. Coming home, not returning to school, I left all my friends behind. We still talk but it's not the same. When I was at my lowest a few months ago it helped to have a friend and while I don't think his moving will mean we aren't friends anymore, it's still hurting more than I thought it would. He wasn't supposed to leave for another few months. 

anyway, I think I'm going to put in my two weeks. I have some other job offers right now so I was planning on leaving soon anyway.
