in which I talk about albums that I like for a few minutes straight. a couple new to me a couple revisited. i definitely recommend revisiting albums years later as it gives you a more complete understanding of the album! I heart music am finding that I'm leaning toward the same sounds all the time but that's OK. it's all about having fun and being yourself haha :) Good Week we had, eh? The Notekillers - Notekillers (1977-1981)
genre: art punk, noise rock, no wave
FFO: the contortions, teenage jesus & the jerks, mission of burma
rating: 10/10
this band features your standard rock band ensemble minus having a singular and dedicated vocalist, however its impact is not lessened without one. the lack of vocals really makes you focus on the quality of the instruments, and they shine brightly as a unit here. I do think there would be added flavor if they had some guy talk-singing over their New York Noisy instrumentals however each track still sings its tune proudly and well. Contains some of that offbeat vibe you find with other albums from around the same era. Recorded in 1977-'81 but could be a cult hit with alternative crowds from any decade. tracks I would recommend: the zipper, ricochet, run don't stop... but the whole thing is gold.
Brittle Brian - Biodiesel (2022)
genre: indie folk/experimental folk
FFO: snail mail, helvetia, dear nora
rating: 8.5/10
I was waiting for a new album from this artist ever since I became obsessed with Verisune when it came on the scene in 2015. I have been following victoria for a while now and was excited when this was finally released in 2022, a whopping seven years after her original success as a solo artist. she also plays in the band @ if you're looking for more. this album didn't quite click for me when it was released but has since become a favorite of the indie folk scene in recent years, personally. experimental melodies, poetic lyrics, mind-stirring themes. songs I would recommend: marathon, bandit 65, down to the river
Lefty Fish - Hello Kitty's Spark (2018)
genre: brutal prog, noisy jazz punk
FFO: midori, 385, doddodo
rating: 8.5/10
I would definitely compare this artist to late-2000's midori and their side project of a similar vein 385. this band contains a similar ensemble though differs in the strings, offering noisy metal influenced guitars that make their sound a little more core than jazz. it still holds the same chaotic energy and density that makes it hard to listen to in a large volume or even as a complete piece of work. which means I will definitely be revisiting it once my ears have been chilled for a while on a steady diet of late 2000's diva house and dance pop, etc. songs I would recommend: catching the eels, you, fish!, meat vs. ginger, kite wars
kedir levanskiy - your need (2019)
genre: hypnagogic pop, experimental dance
FFO: deee-lite, sassy 009, doss
rating: 8/10
this album feels like what I imagine it would be to explore a coral reef, with its rainbow array of wild little fishes, turtles, and sea slugs waving around alien structures of coral an anemones. experimental but inoffensive and often danceable with catchy beats and rhythms. some of the production in combination with the vocals reminds me of 90's electronic group deee-lite in the best way, where it could be used as a sample for some current hip hop artist. deee-lite if it was recorded in the jellyfish exhibit of a russian aquarium, including the energy. songs I would recommend: your need, sky kisses, kiska, ivan kupala (new day)
Thanks for reading if you made it all the way through, let me know if you like anything or hated it or think i should jump into traffic. luhhhh ya xx

Thank you for the notekilers rec, i am shocked i never heard them before. Are you a fan of MX-80? Theyre very similar and i think they were very far ahead of their time, and now i think the notekillers are in the same boat. I appreciate the work you put into these blogs. I’d love to recommend some stuff for you to check out but hate to sound pretentious and assume you havent already heard it. Thinking too hard maybe? Haha.
thanks for reading! i have encountered mx-80 in my foray into post-punk but never listened too intently. I will check them out. you can shoot me a message on here or comment if you want to recommend something! I'm open to it but can't say i'll love everything... I'm a picky listener.

Brian
Brittle Brian is my favorite on this list. But I am Brian, and also feel quite brittle, so maybe that means something :P. Dig the Notekillers too. Kedr Livanskiy was really repetitive, but it made me think of a N64 or PSX game character selection screen you would just let play sometimes just because you enjoy it.
haha cool. glad you liked some!!
