2025年3月17日【2011-2013 object shows are a lost art】

Does anyone else think that modern object shows are just not for them? I do personally

I’m not talking about the very old school 2010 style, I’m talking about 2011-2013 style (but 2010 BFDI is still really nice in my opinion), the limb assets are charming to me, because nowadays limbs are hand drawn

Most modern object shows have a storyline or a plot of some sorts. I’m not saying that’s bad! I like an arc here and there. But it makes things feel a little too professional, because most classic object shows have made it up as they go, the most “planning” that was done was challenge ideas, no arcs, no nothing

I think the biggest difference is that classic object shows were made by kids, while modern object shows are made by adults.

Still, I find 2011-2013 object shows very charming! ! it was mostly young kids messing around with their microphone, there was nothing serious going on with it just being plain fun. Plus, I just like the amateurly drawn assets, the CoD lobby type humour (trust me I still get shocked by some of the jokes they say but it’s still stupidly funny), the random screaming and earrape moments, the kevin macleod music, and the niche in general.

It just feels very authentic, like a small restaurant ran by a very old man, but the food makes you ascend from how good it is. Maybe this is why I don’t really like post 2016 BFDI, I mean I still really love it, but it’s just so popular that it can barely be called a niche anymore (irl though? yep it’s very obscure.) because so many people that dipped their toes into web series have atleast heard about it’s name. If it gets to the point that you are able to hire big names to voice act I don’t think it’s an underground thing anymore (I’m scared JNJ’s gonna start hiring celebrities soon, my worst nightmare)

The 2011-2013 object show style is a lost art, why? because the OSC grew up. But still, it’d be really cool to have 2011-2013 style object shows be a genre, like 2006-2008 styled Roblox games. Even if you have to put the more undesirable bits like character stereotypes, the “I’m so bored”, the amateur animation, the childish voices. I feel though that’d make things more authentic, but not a requirement.

The things I would do to see BFDI limb assets be used again, preferably not on DeviantArt.

(now I swear if I have to type “object shows” one more time…)
