I don't know how I understand English

Well, I'm Brazilian and I'm not fluent in English, when I was a child I watched a lot of Dora the Explorer, and in the Brazilian dub she speaks Portuguese and English, maybe that's one of the reasons why I was interested in learning other languages, but I never took it seriously. However, these days I realized that I can understand almost everything, except for one or two words. However, to speak or write It's still really hard!!!! And I don't know why I'm sharing this, it's almost 3 in the morning, I have class at 1 pm and I should sleep to wash my sneakers in the morning. :P
