Flow + The Day the Earth Blew Up Reviews

today i watched two movies published by indie studios: 'Flow' and 'The Day the Earth Blew Up'.
both movies were EXCELLENT, and i highly suggest you so see them in theaters if you havent already.

flow is a great indie movie made in blender that has no dialogue whatsoever. also an absurd amount of logos at the beginning. the movie made me cry twice and i was in awe 100% on the time at the animation. and its about a cat, so, ideal.

the day the earth blew up is a loony tunes movie that was cut by warner bros because they don't think the ip is "profitable" nor ever will be. i'm so happy that ketchup entertainment saved this film from the fire. GO SUPPORT THIS MOVIE!!! SHOW THEM THAT ANIMATION IS STILL LOVED!!

movie spoilers ahead

FLOW:
movie about a cat, already peak. this little black cat lives in the forest in an artist's old abandoned studio. absolutely beautiful surroundings. by the way, this movie was made in blender. the cat gets swept up in a flood and manages to climb to the highest point it can get to before that was eventually swallowed up too. at the last moment a boat swings by and the cat climbs on and the adventure begins. the water animation is INSANE and it was made in blender. many animals end up on this boat and they all learn how to get along with each other. the cat is, of course, the most standoffish but they manage to be realistic with it. there is one (1) moment where the movie breaks the grounded-ness it has throughout the whole thing when a bird starts glowing and ascends, but it looked beautiful and it tonally fit. but also, HOW WAS THIS MADE IN BLENDER??
i realized about halfway or 2/3rds into the movie that it was an allegory for bonding over shared trauma and it REALLY hit me. i just love this cat so much

THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP:
opens with a montage of daffy duck and porky pig growing up together, with an excellent bit with their guardian being a background painting for all but two scenes, which were animated by James Baxter. insane. every single joke in this movie hit so good. it was a howler. porky and daffy get a hole bust in their house's roof so they need to get a job to get the money to fix it, but of course daffy messes up each one. hes also a conspiracy theorist. there's a scene where he twerks it up on tik-tok ripoff but its actually done funny. they meet a girl pig in a diner that porky falls for, and they end up getting a job at the factory she works at. they do okay at the work and go off for the day, porky trying to talk to the girl and daffy wanders off and finds out the products are getting contaminated with goo. obviously, porky doesn't believe him, and chaos ensues. its just such a great movie and i'm so glad it came out go watch it gogogogo

im not used to writing blog posts or movie reviews so i hope this is fun to read. i had a great time seeing these movies with my friends and i hope you guys can have a great time too.
