citrus

i ache to trace the features on your face the same way the sun does. the golden colors kissing your insecurities, fueling the flame that lies beneath your eyes. highlighting what you love to dim. the crow's feet planted at the end of each eye, the smile lines I've given you by making you laugh. the arms you hold close because you're scared to wear your heart on your sleeve, knees even closer to hide your bruises. i see our shadows growing more than we ever will and only then i know this moment will not last forever. features on your face are becoming elongated by dark shadows. i wish to push them away to catch a longer glimpse of your face when you're not looking, but it's just not practical. my citrus, my vitamin, whom i want to bask in warmth that is within my reach, not my touch. lay me to rest so i can admire you in my dreams because its eventide now, and you're nothing more than a dark silhouette.
