Have you ever watched a movie about addiction? Honestly, it could be about anything-addiction doesnโt have to be drug-related, in my opinion. Seeing how people fade into their addictions is so eye-opening. I donโt even know why, but it makes me think about all these things that are supposed to help us overcome addiction, like rehab clinics.
But honestly, all they really do is make you want to use again and again. They set strict rules, and if you donโt follow them, you get punished. Eventually, they label you a lost cause. Iโm not saying rehab doesnโt work, but I feel like the system is kind of shit.
That also makes me question how addiction even starts. And Iโm not just talking about meth, XTC, or hard drugs in general. Not even things like shoplifting, shopping addiction, or bingeing. I mean-what makes you feel so drawnย ย to it?
My first ten times smoking had me tripping, panicking, feeling vulnerable, and hating it. But now, Iโm able to enjoy it. I wouldnโt say Iโm necessarily addicted to the feeling I just crave it sometimes, yk? But my nicotine addiction? Thatโs real. If I donโt have my ciggies, I just smoke a blunt to numb the craving, but itโs not eating me aliveย or anything.
Has anyone else ever thought the same about this?

hey! I am reading this now as I was thinking about my past and honestly I love that people think the same way as me. I was or still am an addict trying to overcome that all, and I think addiction starts when you are not able to solve problems ( doesnt matter which problems) on your own and start replacing these missing gaps with drugs. That eventually fills these gaps and you start that habit of doing it whenerver you feel like it which leads you to not being able to exist even without it.
But i also think there are just type of people who are more drawn to drugs in general if u get what I mean. I used to smoke with friends and use but only I couldnt rlly stop.
Also I think the system IS fucked but on the other hand I think if u REALLY want to change something about yourself nobody can help either way. Yes rehab does help with getting short term problems away if for example youre dealing with heavy opioid addiction but only you yourself can help in a long term way cuz no other facility will ever care they simply just lock u up and if youre outside the cycle starts again...
I really dont know if that helps or answers anything of your quiestions/thoughts and I am actually thankful that i could read that :)
