Greetings loved ones~ (✿◠‿◠) /!
I am back with another post! And this time, with another old phone that we are still using. Believe it or not, I can still call with this phone despite the apple app store not working with it. Will you look at this beauty~! THE IPHONE 4!
History of My iPhone 4
Basically, we bought this at around the first year of the pandemic, which is around 2020 if I think. It was my father that bought the iPhone 4 because he wanted to see what all the fuss was about back when they were first released. Almost all his co-workers back around 2010, if I'm right, availed them as soon as it was possible. My father didn't think that it was worth buying at that time and stuck to his handy dandy keypad phone (which I still have and will be posting in the future!). Until his job required him to have a touchscreen phone, which he decided that my mother and him would not be buying apple products but Samsung ≧◠‿◠≦✌!
What Apps Still Work?!
Unfortunately, not a lot of apps work in the iPhone 4. Even netflix and Spotify stopped working at around 2022 if I'm right. Youtube has long been gone even when we first bought it. We use the internet apps like Safari and installed two others more like Chrome and UC Browser, to see which ones work best. I'm not really sure if Facetime still works with this because I don't really have another working apple product as of the moment. （っ＾▿＾）
Shockingly enough, Instagram and Facebook still work in this iPhone! Though you have to had it installed as, I have said before, it is no longer supported by the apple app store.
How's the Touch Screen Experience?
Believe it or not, it is still very much a good touch screen for its time. I think that its last update fits the phone well as it feels fast, and it would only lag a little if there are a lot of tabs open on the Safari or if there are more than three to four apps open at the same time. The keyboard is still fast, very satisfying to use despite the small screen!
Soooo... How Do You Still Use It?
My family and I still use it as an extra phone. It's also there in case of emergencies as it could still be used for calls and texts. It could also be used as an MP3 as I put music there whenever I would just want to listen to some old classic songs. I also put movies there just for the fun of it and watch despite the small screen. BUT, if there's one thing that it's completely good for it's: AS A CAMERA!
If you like the vibes that older phones give off on pictures and videos, the iPhone 4 is perfect for this. Not too clear, but also not too blurry; I say it gives off the right vibes for the year it came from which is around the 2010s.
Anyways! I hope you guys enjoyed reading this blog of mine! Thank you for spending your time here and I wish you all a great day and life! I wouldn't recommend buying an iPhone 4 at this age and time, especially if you want like a second functional phone that you can use like your main phone. Unless you want to use it as a dumbphone, which in this case, is perfect for that! ☜(ˆ▿ˆc)!

Back then, some iphone fan scared me that eventually, older iPhones won’t connect to the wifi, so basically… I can’t backup photos and such (unless airdrop works..does it?) is it just a rumor then?

Hey there! Can still connect to the wifi but unfortunately, the only way you can transfer photos now is through connecting the phone to a laptop or computer :(( Apple completely dropped support even in the app store around 2022 I believe...?

Oh you can actually connect an apple phone to a pc? Or is it just a macbook that can see it?
i would say I’m kinda new to apple, but connecting it to a pc would help a lot.
I even watched the cartoon as a kid 
but I mainly like his movies!

I have the same reaction when it comes to my smartphone XDDD!!! I mean, I'm ngl the convenience is great especially if you grew up with having multiple devices for different things but— it just gets boring sometimes. To have just a box-shaped phone with no other form of customization being the wallpapers and home of the phone and the case. I came from a time where I have a nokia and changed it with a pink cover and some stickers in it.

Oooh! You should check out my other blog post about the phone that I'm using as a daily driver <3! I'm using an android flip phone, the Samsung Galaxy Folder 2! Still works perfectly for my needs, and I can still access some social medias too! Though, I'm struggling with downloading youtube since it's on Android 6 (─‿‿─)

The thing I'd be concerned about if I were you is the 3G shutdown, which has already happened in some countries already (like mine back in 2022) or is expected to begin very soon (either later this decade or in the early 2030s from what I've heard so far).
2G is also unfortunately being shutdown slowly and I think T-Mobile (the last remaining 2G carrier in the US) has plans to shut theirs down very soon if they haven't done so already.
So just keep that in mind when it comes to being able to call or text anyone from an iPhone 4 or any other older cellphone running on either 2G or 3G.
^^^^ Super important. I've tried using my i4s here in the US over the past two years or so and it's basically unusable without wifi or a hot spot. The sunsetting/shut downs of these services is probably closer than we think for the remaining countries that still have them. Super sad :(.

True (╥﹏╥) But still, I'm not using it anymore as like a second phone. I just keep it around for nostalgia's sake. I also love keeping older techs even if its unusable. I can't even sign in the Iphone 4 since apple completely removed even the use of the apple store in it.

ohhhh that makes sense. and yeah it as a secondary phone is super fun!! i totally get the nostalgia part :P.
also!!! if it's running iOS 8.0 or above, it can probably still log into the App Store and iCloud without needing to jailbreak it (mine runs iOS 8.0.0 and I haven't jailbroken it yet but these work for me).
r/LegacyJailbreak on Reddit has some helpful info on this if you haven't looked into this kinda stuff yet :P. You can also sideload app files from a computer to the phone as long as the app file versions are compatible with the iOS version you have :) (altho it can be a little sketchy sometimes). but also it's still important to note that even if you can download these apps, the developers will probably still not let you log in or really use the app because it's so old :P. But I found that a lot of game apps can still work if you do this!!
I'd love to know if you end up trying these in the future if you haven't already!!! But if you're not super into the tech stuff and don't want to try this stuff tho that's understandable too :-).

Mine actually runs on IOS 7.1.2 so I can't access the app store anymore haha! But, I do have an Iphone SE 1st generation that I can still access the app store. Maybe I'll try it in the nearby future XDD

Older phones are just so cute! I have a first generation Iphone SE that is still completely useable until now. Only problem I have with it is that I can't use the speaker of the phone. Oh well, just have to live with it ≧◠‿◠≦✌

Hi there! It IS my first dumb phone actually. I got the idea from a Reddit community after suffering from anxiety. But then I made a switch with the Samsung Galaxy Folder 2, which you may argue isn't really that much of a dumbphone since I can still access social medias there

Right?! Older phones just have more flare to them! I have a few other older phones stacked up here, but only a number of them are really working. I will post another in the future so that I at least could have an archive of them <3!
Also, I am unfamiliar with the reference (╥﹏╥) that you are talking about. Can you enlighten me on this? Is it a bad thing? Should I change anything? I don't want to offend anyone haha
